About Yam

I am a product design generalist based in NYC with several years of dedicated design experience. I solve problems through design thinking, rapid prototyping, analytical skills, and design iterations. As a designer, I value familiar and intuitive designs that are inspired by the physical world around us.

Sketching

Sketching for me, is not just a personal practice; it's a collaborative one. I engage in discussions with my colleagues, sharing and discussing the sketches we create. I use sketches to facilitate conversation and work as a team.

Spatial Design

My background in architecture has shaped my belief in human-centric design and taught me to craft intuitive experiences through scale, shapes, and materials. What I love about both architecture and product design is the process of turning visions into reality—crystallizing ideas and making them tangible. In architecture, I collaborated with engineers, developers, and stakeholders, honing my ability to advocate for design and work across teams to bring projects like homes and museums to life. Those same skills now drive my approach to product design.

Visual Design

Listening and empathizing have been central to my work as a designer. Through projects in Riyadh, Bangkok, and Washington D.C., I’ve honed my ability to research and adapt to diverse cultural and environmental contexts, crafting solutions tailored to unique needs.

I’ve also developed a strong craft in visual language—using hierarchy, space, and color to influence decisions and create impact. These experiences have sharpened my skills in design thinking, problem-solving, visual design, and project management, all of which I bring to my product design work.

Hobbies

When I'm not designing, you’ll find me experimenting in the kitchen, going for a bike ride, or learning to dance.

I believe in creating impactful designs that are simple, intuitive, and human-centered. Recently, I’ve been interested in spatial user experiences that help reconnect us with each other and the world around us.
